Pitch would find great value in such a ferocious force of destruction. Relationships Allies (Maybe) Pitch Black Much like with the Red Death, the Screaming Death is often portrayed as a primal force of nature, needing the combined forces of the Big Four and their allies in an effort to drive it away or defeat it. While the show disclosed the Screaming Death as an actual threat, fanfic writers often use the Screaming Death as an antagonist in their stories. It is confirmed that the Screaming Death is not immune to the effects of dragon root, proving that not all Boulder-class dragons are immune. Like most dragons, the Screaming Death has the ability to breath fire, shooting cannonball-like bursts of flame, flame-exhaust shooting from the gill-like opening in its neck like a machine-gun. It is also relatively intelligent, as it did not fall for the refection off Hiccup's shield a second time. It is possible that this could be because the Screaming Death is an Alpha-Dragon, but is unable to control other dragons so much as disorient them on account of his age. The Screaming Death gets it name by its incredibly disorienting sonic roar that can affect the flight of other dragons. Whether their loyalty is based on family bonds or some type of earned respect is not clear. When it roared after injuring its wing, they came to its aid and carried it off to some remote location where they nursed it back to health. The Screaming Death appears to command it's younger Whispering Death siblings. There is only one in the show so its maturity level is not fully known either. It also seems to have a mutated maturity cycle and seems to become a full grown adult faster. The Screaming Death is also able to plow right through massive sea stacks with ease, destroying entire islands over the course of a single day. Whether these spines are poisonous like the Deadly Nadders are unknown. Having spines of its own, it could easily pin down any oncoming foes with deadly accuracy. The scales of the beast are extremely tough, as it is not phased by being hit with a Deadly Nadder spines. The Screaming Death differs from Whispering Death as its' tunnels are so large that they can cause islands to sink. The Screaming Death Shooting Fire (click to see GiF) The Screaming Death gave one last roar of thanks to Hiccup, then left with its family, showing that although the Screaming Death is merciless, it isn't vengeful. Hiccup later finds out the reason that the Screaming Death is destroying the islands for searching his mother, and sends air mail back to the Academy. Eventually, the Screaming Death's mother is freed by Snotlout and Hookfang, and she and its siblings fly out to meet with it. It could be possible that, given it's young age, it simply did not know any better. This dragon does not appear to possess any actual pathos towards others (with the exception of its mother) as it destroys entire islands, leaving many dragon colonies homeless. It appears though that in their second confrontation, it ignored Hiccup's reflective shield, having grown out of this strange habit. Where as Screaming Death try to avoid the light, due to an ultra-sensitivity to it, the Screaming Death at first was attracted to light instead, giving Hiccup a weakness to exploit. Like the Whispering Deaths that Hiccup has faced before, the Screaming Death is both an incredibly dangerous and rather sinister dragon to contend with. On the side of it's head it possesses gill-like flaps that allow excess flames to release, it's fire much like a machine-gun of sorts. It also has three rows of teeth, but they are aligned differently than those of the Whispering Death, set in a chin reminiscent of the Red Death. Judging by the massive size of what is apparently a hatchling, this albino giant is probably one of the biggest dragons of them all. It is white in color, has large red eyes, a longer and a more massive body and larger tail than a normal Whispering Death. The Screaming Death appears to be a heavily mutated, albino Whispering Death. The Screaming Death with its Whispering Death Siblings.
